Crispy nori seaweed chips with rice paper
The ultimate crunchy snack: oven baked nori seaweed crisps! Made with simple yet flavourful ingredients: nori sheets, rice paper, and a touch of oil. Savory and light, with a crisp texture and a unique umami flavour. To be served this as a snack, side dish or appetizer. Easy and quick to make, still these homemade nori crisps are sure to impress!

Ingredients
- Rice paper – Very briefly soaked in a large bowl of water.
- Nori – Just lay on top of the rice paper.
- Avocado oil – A few drops under the rice paper and on top of the nori. You could use melted coconut oil, although the flavours can be a bit too strong. Don’t use extra virgin olive, that has a completely different flavour that doesn’t match the Asian umami profile. And certainly never use seed oils like sunflower or canola.
- Optional: sesame seeds, onion powder, paprika powder, chil flakes

- large bowl to fit 1 sheet of ricepaper
- pastry brush
Ingredients
- 1 sheet rice paper
- 1 sheet nori seaweed
- few drops avocado oil
Optional
- ½ tsp sesame seeds
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp paprika powder
- ¼ tsp chilflakes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven at 390F or 200C.
- Prepare the oven tray with parchment paper. Brush it wit a few drops of oil.
- Fill up your bowl with water. Dip the ricepaper into the water. This should be done very shortly, but make sure that all the rice paper is covered. Leave no spot undone. Is will soften while on your baking paper.
- Place the sheet on the parchment paper (the part brushed with oil).
- Now you can place the nori on top. But first make it fit a bit better. Cut off the corners of the nori to fit the roundings of the rice paper. These four parts can be placed on the edges.
- Brush the nori with a few drops of oil.
- Place between 8 and 10 minutes in the oven. If the sides get light brown they are ready. Don't let them burn.
With spices
- If you use spices or sesame seed add them on top of the rice paper and then cover with the nori.
